Level One (Observation)
What was your favorite part of the movie? (Besides seeing a luxurious plane)
What makes this film tense and scary to you? What made it so?
Level Two (Abstraction)
Did the authorities on the plane do the right thing to help Kylie and keep the rest of the passenger’s content? [Remember the FAA rules]
Here’s a stumper: Why did the events happen in the movie? Why all the convoluted attempts to make Kylie seem crazy?
Level Three (Personalization)
To what extent did Kylie sacrifice her own good for her daughter? [In this movie a mother sacrifices her reputation, sanity, and even offers up her life to save her child.]
What about the other passengers? Why didn’t they do anything? [No one cares, whispers the villain, no one spoke up as I shoved your child into a storage bin. Isn’t that sad but true? Just like Bonhoeffer’s comments about the dwindling populace around him as he did nothing, so the plane becomes the location for a kidnapping…and no one notices. It is in this we find the ultimate disappointment, the very people that were so angry at Kyle for causing all the disruptions were themselves guilty of failing to stop the kidnapping.]
